Dr. Rubinstein grew up in Shenzhen, China, but has spent most of her life living in various places in the U.S.. She received her bachelor degrees in Ecology, Behavior, Evolution, and English from University of California, Los Angeles, then went on to pursue a master's degree in Conservation Medicine at Tufts University. After she received her master's degree, she spent a year working in wildlife conservation research. She received her veterinary degree from Cornell University and stayed in the central New York area after graduation. She is a native speaker of Mandarin and can communicate comfortably in Cantonese. Outside of work, she likes to spend time with her husband and their three cats, as well as painting, reading, and writing.
